Day 128: Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day everyone!! I am so grateful to the men and women who so selflessly serve our country. I am grateful for the freedoms I have because I live in this country.
It was nice to finally have this holiday off from work as well. This is the first time in four years that I work at a place who takes the day off on Memorial Day. I had a great time with my sister and her family- having a BBQ, playing games in the yard... and seeing this little fellow that came to visit their garden!!

Day 127: Bye Bye Couch

Well, we got rid of a couch today. My friend posted on Facebook that he needed a couch and I told him we had one for free. When Brian and I got married and combined our furniture, we had way too much. We've been able to get rid of all the excess now. I did however tell him this was a family heirloom of sorts. It started as belonging to my brother, who gave it to my sister, who gave it to me. And who knows, I may have skipped an owner. Hmm, what should I do in that room where the couch was now....

Day 126: My Nephew Gets His Eagle

My nephew got his Eagle yesterday!! We are so proud of him and all his hard work!! We had a fun gathering at his house to honor him!

Day 125: End of the Year stuff

Today we had our Kindergarten program for the moms and dads. They did such a great job!! I wish the pictures turned out better... and that I could add the video I took of their song. I'll keep trying cause they were so cute!!

This little boy decided to try on one of the girls headbands.

My award I got today!!

Day 124: Sunshine in the Shade and "car" shadows

Today I decided I wanted my pictures to be of shadows...
I couldn't help but remember a wonderful December back when I lived in Hawaii. My friends Uncle came to visit and a group of us had so much fun running around the island doing all the "must do's" there. One day, we were at Matsumoto's and Dan mentioned something... which I can't for the life of me remember. But, I do remember what our friend thought he said, and it was something about car shadows. So of course we continued to joke about it with her. We even took a picture of Dan in a car shadow. (pic seen below)
Later when I went to visit Dan in Washington he introduced me to the song "Sunshine in the Shade" and the two just became interchangeable. Ah, fun memories!!

Day 123: Teacher's Little Helper

Today some of the kids were finishing up an assignment while some were done. This little girl started reading to one of the students. She was in a chair, and he was seated on the floor facing her. Soon, more students sat down to listen in to the story. By the end, I think she had about five or six kids listening in. What a sweetie she is... and a great reader too!!

Day 122: Double Trouble

I got to spend the afternoon with these two cuties!! All I have to say is... Mom's of multiples... (such as twins, triplets, etc).... you are a supermom!! The whole time we were outside.. they were running in different directions. I had a hard time keeping them both close by.
But twins are sure twice as cute!!

Day 121: The Books on the Bookshelf

I love books!! I love reading! I'm pretty sure I learned to love books from my Dad. He is always reading and collecting books. At one point, he even had a whole bookshelf full of books about books. When I noticed he had one called "The Book On the Bookshelf" I used to tease him that he had way too many books.
But I was thinking today, about the concept of "The Book on the Bookshelf." Nowadays, the actual concept of having a book on a bookshelf is becoming somewhat obsolete. You can download a book in an instant on your tablet, iPhone or computer in a moment. You could be carrying around hundreds of books at the same time without it weighing you down. As convenient and cool as that sounds, for me... there is something about having the actual book on the bookshelf. I love holding the book in my hand and turning the pages as I read.
I understand that for some people, they prefer using modern technology to have several books in one place. But for me... I prefer the book on the bookshelf.

Day 120: Primary

I love teaching in primary!! And even more so, I think I love singing time in Primary. The Spirit is so strong when I hear the kids sing. Today I even got a super singer award!! I earned it because I knew the words to a song they are learning!!

Day 119: Babysitting

Yesterday my husband and I babysat our nieces and nephews. The older kids are really good at entertaining themselves.. so much that we barely even saw them. But this little guy wanted attention and we were happy to give it to him!! I mean, look at that cute face!!

Day 118: Date Night

Enjoying our meal at Chili's!
Tonight Brian and I had a date. It was so wonderful. Last semester Brian worked until 8pm on Friday's, so usually my friday night consisted of watching TV and waiting anxiously for Brian to come home so we could have a late dinner and then we'd go to bed.
I love having him home more now- as he has an online class this semester. Tonight we were celebrating too!! Brian got a raise and two bonuses at work!! I am so proud of him. He is such a hard worker!! Not only has he taken on the added responsibility of school, but he still manages to be rewarded for being such a great worker at his job.

This is me, ready for our date night!
