Day 107: What's In A Name?

About a year and a half ago I became an Arrington. In a sense, I took upon myself the name of Arrington when I was married.
In Primary we have been talking about the commitment we make when we are baptized. When we are baptized, we take upon ourselves the name of Christ. That means we do as He would do and we live as He would live. When I was a missionary, I wore His name on my badge, right next to my name every day. Anyone who saw me, knew what I stood for.
I can't help but wonder, when people look at me now, since I am not wearing a badge, do people know what I stand for? I hope that the way I live my life reflects my beliefs.

This photo was taken two nights ago, but I wanted to share it on my blog.

Day 106: Making Salsa and Chips

Today after church I decided I wanted to make some salsa. Since I can't always smell, and I have been able to lately, there are so many things I keep thinking of that I want to be able to eat and enjoy while I can smell. My salsa was one of those things. I've always loved it, and always get compliments, but I honestly don't think I have ever tried it when I am able to smell.
My husband decided to make some homemade tortilla chips.
I have put the recipe below for anyone who is interested.
Yummy Salsa

4 cans diced tomatoes
cilantro
1 yellow onion
1 can diced green chili's
1 green pepper
salt/pepper
creole seasoning
garlic salt

I throw everything (except for the seasonings) into my awesome chopper I got for my wedding. It chops and mixes it all perfectly. Then I pour it into my container and add the seasonings.

This makes a pretty big batch. You can play around with it and half it, using only 2 cans of the tomatoes and half of each of the veggies. Sometimes I even reduce it to one can of the tomatoes. As far as the seasoning goes, I never measure, I just add some and try it, and keep adding until it's to my liking.

Day 105: Make A Wish

Remember when you were little and you found these dandelions around? What would you do? Well, I can tell you what I did. I would pick it up, make a wish and blow all the seeds off. I don't remember whether or not any of those wishes came true, but I do remember the excitement I felt when I found one.
Now that I am older, although it reminds me of that youthful bliss... it also says "weed". How did something so wonderful turn into something so bad?
I think it's all about perspective. Is the glass half full or half empty? Sometimes it's hard however to see the full part of the glass, or the good that comes from something that seems bad.

I try to be positive about everything and look for the good, but sometimes it's hard to find. But that doesn't mean that I am going to stop trying.
The next time I see one of these dandelions, I think I will just have to pick it, blow all the seeds and make a wish!!! :)

Day 103: Be As A Little Child

Tonight as I was holding my niece, my husband held her little hand. He mentioned to me how cute it is that little babies just grab on and hold tight if you put a finger in their little hands. It just made me think of how trusting and innocent children are. They haven't yet learned to not trust. They know they will be fed, and loved, and cared for. It's no wonder why our Heavenly Father wants us to be like a little child. He wants us to trust in Him and not falter. He is there for us, reaching forth His finger, just waiting for us to "grab on". If we trust in Him, He will take care of our needs too.

Day 102: Tabby

My nephew has a little cat that he calls, "Tabby".  Well he got a new one, since the old one got loved too much. Grandpa (my dad) took the old Tabby with him to live in Hawaii. He takes him all over the island and takes pictures and sends them home to my nephew to report what he is up to. Now that my parents are back for the summer, so is Tabby. They got to be reunited today!!

Day 101: Field Trip

Today we had a field trip with all the Kindergarten classes. It was bittersweet for me. After today, I'm not sure if I will get to be in the classroom with these kids. For the next month I will be assisting with testing of the older kids. I have really grown to love my class, the teacher I work with and the other Aides and teachers I work with. Taking this job was a really good decision. The kids had a lot of fun today!! It sure was a lot of work keeping track of the kids, but I had fun too!!
