Day 53: Candy Dish

I grew up in San Jose, California not too far from where my Dad was born and raised. We visited my Grandparents a lot. One of our favorite things about going to our Grandparents house was getting to raid the candy dish. They had one very similar to the one pictured here. We would always try to open it, take out some candy, and close it without making a sound. I'm not sure why we didn't want to make a sound, Grandma would always make sure it was filled for us. We just liked to be silly and sneaky I think.
My sister found a candy dish like this on eBay. Luckily, I was able to find one too a little while later. I love being able to carry on traditions. Although this isn't the candy dish my Grandparents owned, it still makes me think of them every time I see it. Even now, whenever one of us opens the candy dish, we try to do it without making a noise.

  1. I too try to open and close it without making a sound! Part habit, part kids will come running if they hear it.
